Ömer Faruk Sorak

He was born on 27 April 1964 in Ankara, graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Communication. His professional career started in TRT between years 1987 - 1990 as assistant cameraman and 1990 - 1995 as a cameraman. From 1995 on, he has worked as DOP and Director. He has directed numerous commercials, music videos, TV shows, documentaries and feature films in Böcek Yapim, the production company he has incorporated in February 1998. His feature film directorial debut is Vizontele (2001) that he co-directed with Yilmaz Erdogan and marks a new era in Turkish cinema as the first film passing 3 million local admissions. His second film the sci-fi comedy G.O.R.A. (2004) brought him another record, being the first film that surpassed 4 million local admissions. His next feature Heist School (2006) is an edgy youth comedy criticizing the educational system which also features Jean-Claude Van Damme in its cast. His fourth film Yahsi Bati (2009) pioneers in the genre of Turkish Western Comedy.
