Art Hall

Art Hall

Art grew up in Pasadena, Maryland, and began to exhibit an interest in storytelling at an early age. From writing short stories and drawing comics in school, to programming story-driven games in QBasic, he was always fascinated with stories and entertaining people. As Art entered middle school, he took the family VHS camera and began making stop-motion films with his toys and short films with his neighborhood friends playing the roles. It was not until he was cast in a high school production of "It's a Wonderful Life" that he discovered his love of theatre. After that show, Art went on to appear in nearly every production at Chesapeake High until his graduation. At the University of Maryland, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance and appeared in numerous Theatre Department productions including "The Crucible", "SubUrbia", "Our Town", "Scapin", and "Standing on My Knees". During the summer of 2002 while on break from college, the 20-year-old Art co-wrote/produced/starred and directed the independent feature-length comedy The Money Shot (2005), which has come to be seen as a film that is so-bad-it's-good. It's available on Amazon Prime Video if you want to see for yourself. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the industry, Art continued to study performance at the Howard Fine Studio, and later completed the 2-year Meisner program with Neighborhood Playhouse veteran William Alderson. He also expanded his stage credits performing in productions with West Coast Ensemble, the Newport Theatre Arts Center, The Gallery Theatre in Anaheim, the LA One-Minute Play Festival, and the Open Fist Theatre Company. As Art began to make a life for himself in Los Angeles, he took a strong interest in editing and audio. He co-created and hosted the podcast "That Was Disappointing..." and later began a second podcast, "Subversive Cinema", a show about off-the-beaten-path movies. He works for Disney Television Animation as a dialogue editor and when not working he spends time with his wife Ashley chasing their toddler son and two rescue dogs.
